IndieMe Virtual Chat is an instant chat feature to speak with buyers when they initiate a conversation. It is perfect for the buyer to ask a quick question prior to ordering, get an order update, or just a way to say hello. Currently, this feature is best used on a laptop or PC.
Artists have the ability to mark themselves unavailable or available from the module on their Artist Dashboard. We suggest you check your availability status when you log in.
You must be marked as available for a Buyer to send you a message. When a buyer clicks on the Virtual chat button on your store they will appear in your Virtual Chat module and you are able to chat with them.
If you are unavailable, the buyer can still use the Make an Inquiry feature and/or Request More Information options to contact you.
NOTE: The Live Chat module stores your availability status in the browser's local storage, so no need to turn on/off unless you login using a different computer or browser.
In the top navigation bar to the right of your name you will see a gray, red or blue envelope.
Gray –not available for chats
Blue –available for chats
Red – New chat notification
When a buyer initiates a chat, that envelope turns red signaling there is an open chat. Simply click on the envelope to be taken to the Artist Dashboard where you will see the buyer's name and their message.
The envelope is red when there are messages.
You will be able to manage multiple chats from the module on your Artist Dashboard. An envelope icon will appear next to their name if a new message was sent.
The Search box can be used if you are chatting with several buyers and want to find one of them quickly.
Your chat sessions will be available until you or the buyer logs off of IndieMe. Currently, transcripts are not available. If you wish to keep the information for future reference, you should take a screen shot of it or copy the information to another place.
Coming in Version 2 (V2):
